Powder Coating Booths
Production Systems offers both custom and standard size reclaim and non-reclaim powder coating booths, manual or automatic, open or closed faced, depending on your finishing requirements. Production Systems powder coating rooms provide customers with a clean working environment.
Standard-size booths are ideal for operations with predictable part sizes and consistent throughput. They offer:
- Faster lead times
- Lower cost
- Proven, repeatable performance
- Compatibility with common conveyor and manual workflows
Custom-engineered booths, on the other hand, are built around your production reality. They’re the go‑to choice when you’re coating:
- Oversized or unusually shaped parts
- High‑volume components requiring automated handling
- Aerospace, automotive, or architectural assemblies with strict process controls
Custom booths allow you to optimize airflow, ergonomics, reclaim systems, and automation integration—critical for industries where precision and repeatability are non‑negotiable.
Powder reclaim is one of the biggest cost‑savers in finishing, but it’s not always the right fit for every operation.
Reclaim booths capture overspray and return usable powder back into the system. They’re best for:
- High‑volume production
- Single‑color runs
- Operations focused on reducing material waste
- Environments where powder cost is a major factor
Non‑reclaim booths are simpler, more flexible, and ideal for:
- Frequent color changes
- Short production runs
- Job shops or custom coaters
- Applications where cross‑contamination must be avoided
Choosing between reclaim and non‑reclaim often comes down to your color‑change frequency and powder usage patterns.
Your application method shapes everything—from booth design to airflow to operator workflow.
Manual powder coating offers:
- Maximum flexibility
- Ideal for low‑volume or highly varied parts
- Better control for complex geometries
- Lower initial investment
Automatic powder coating delivers:
- Consistent, repeatable film builds
- Higher throughput
- Reduced labor costs
- Integration with robots, reciprocators, and dense‑phase systems
Many facilities use a hybrid approach: automatic guns for primary coverage and manual touch‑up stations for recessed or intricate areas.
Airflow and containment are critical for both finish quality and safety.
Open-face booths feature a three‑sided design with a fully open front. They’re ideal for:
- Manual coating
- Small to medium parts
- Shops needing easy access and fast loading
- Lower‑volume production
Closed-face booths fully enclose the coating environment, offering:
- Superior containment
- Cleaner finishes
- Better control of airflow and overspray
- Compatibility with automation and conveyorized systems
Closed-face designs are common in high‑precision industries like aerospace, automotive, and heavy equipment manufacturing.

Posted on Chris Morris Great company to work with, highly recommend Production SystemsPosted on Gat Caperton PSI just completed a second wood furniture finishing line for Gat Creek. Both are world-class. The first was completed in 2005 and helped lead our factory through a renaissance. Our product got better and customers/consumers noticed! The 2005 line also improved our productivity significantly. Though designed to be similar, the 2023 finishing line that PSI designed and installed outperforms the original. Too often, the quality of the design and craftsmanship of manufacturing systems decline when compared over time…but not with PSI. We have two winners on our hands and look forward to working with PSI again in the future. They have our highest recommendation.
